ART WORKS
Inclination, 2001

The Inclination is a synchronised double video projection, which is also looped. The work is projected onto two walls at right angles to one another. It shows a figure at night, emerging from the sea and crawling up the beach. As it crosses into the second projection another raises its head in the water and begins the repeat journey.

The work was first shown as one of the three installations in Tomorrow's World, Yesterday's Fever (mental guests incorporated) in Milton Keynes and then Victoria Miro gallery in London, 2001. The other two were The Figment and The Inspirator.

The footage was shot at Birling Gap near Beachy Head in East Sussex. The soundtrack, recorded in East London, was produced specially by Matty Skylab and features a voiceover by Tracey Emin.
