ART WORKS
You Take My Breath Away, 1996

This installation is a room papered with Bloody Wallpaper. Set into one of the walls is an air vent from behind which comes the sound of laughter. The laughter is at first infectious and then the atmosphere takes on a darker reality as it persists.

You Take My Breath Away was first shown at the Kunstmuseum, Wolfsburg in Germany as part of Full House exhibition in 1997. In 2003 the work was reconstructed in a prison cell as part of Restoration project, Clerkenwell Magistrates Court, London.

The laughter is Abigail being tickled without mercy by Gillian Wearing, Georgina Star and Tracey Emin who also took part in the Full House exhibition.
